Abraham Lincoln

I've always loved Abraham Lincoln for some reason. And the more I read about him, the more I know why.

I love that picture. ;) I just want to frame it and hang it on my wall. Like, really bad. :)

Here's something that Abraham Lincoln said when a group of black citizens from Baltimore presented him with a Bible:

"In regard to this Great Book, I have but to say it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good Saviour gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it, we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man's welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it. To you I return my most sincere thanks for the very elegant copy of the great Book of God which you present."

I think that's really cool.

Just a few weeks ago, April 14th, was the day that he was assassinated 146 years ago.  :(

roses

 Bagels and cereal for dinner....<3 No, that is not something we do regularly. :) haha
It started raining a while ago. Hopefully that will cool things off some. It's been warm here.

 We have two rose bushes just outside my bedroom window, and they are covered in roses. So I've been keeping a fresh bouquet of roses on the table. :)

Since receiving a sewing machine for my birthday, I've been wanting to make a quilt. I've made a few small pillows with quilted fronts, but I want to try and make a real quilt. I want to just try it and see how it goes. I'm going to use scrap fabric so in case it doesn't work quite right, it'll be okay. :) But since our sunroom is still torn apart, and that's where I had my sewing machine and everything set up, it's a little hard. Hopefully we'll get some new carpet in there soon, so we can move everything back. The kitchen/breakfast nook is full of desks, books, and bookshelves. :) It's a mess. :)

I finished "Wives & Daughters". It was so good!! I loved it.

We leave for Texas in two weeks!

It's suddenly so hot here. My bedroom fan is on high, we have two box fans set up, I'm wearing a tank top and shorts, and I'm still hot! And it's not even summer yet. It's only May....

Have you ever used Pandora? It's awesome. You choose a singer, or group, and it plays not only songs from what you chose, but songs in the same style and that are similar, ones that they think you will also like. You can mark each track with like, or dislike, which helps them to play songs of your preference. You can create many stations. Some of mine are, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney, and Michael Buble. I like to leave it up and listen to it while I'm doing other things. :)

Only fifteen more days until we go to Texas. I'm so excited! Were gonna get to see the Alamo, and fun stuff like that. :) It's like a ten hour drive down there. The last time I went somewhere with that long of a drive was when we went to Tennessee and that was probably six years ago. I'm thinking I'm going to have to hurry and find my ipod charger and get it loaded up....:) I can't read in the car because it gives me a headache. Which means I can't write or draw either...I'll just have to listen to my music and watch the scenery. Which I know will be fun because it's been a long time since I've been to Texas, so it'll be interesting to see. And it's always fun to take pictures out the window.

A friend of mine told me about this BBC movie called "Wives and Daughters". It's so good! If you like the Jane Austen movies, then you'll probably like this. :) It has four episodes which make up the whole movie. I think I'm in the middle of the last episode right now.
